Ramadhan is months away, but I’m making a really early pre-cleanse series before starting the whole detox again.
Having failed miserably for last year’s cleanse during the fasting month, I have decided to do a better job this time around!
Being busy has become a way of life and just recently I begin to notice how distracted my mind is. So many things on my mind: I’m more unproductive because I’m stressing over them than actually clearing my tasks at hand.
Meanwhile, I have a really amazing grandmother who has been asking me to read the Quran after the Subuh prayers, even if it’s for 4 or 5 verses.
I don’t do yoga. I am not a New Age spirituality guy. I’m not even religious! ! But my upbringing is Islam, and praying and reading the Quran gives me a sense of peace.
So yes. I begin praying three weeks ago. I am HORRIBLE at it. My mind goes off in all directions the moment I begin. There were times that when I end my Subuh prayers, I forget to read the Quran. It’s hilarious. Praying, however, has also forced me to devote (pun intended) 15 minutes of active concentration.
I have lots of time, so I’m not setting goals yet. Let’s see how this passing thing goes two weeks from now.
