More Than This: on heavy rotation for me. What’s your fave 1D song?

This song sounds like “If I Were A Boy” from Beyoncé. I like “Taken” though.

My verdict: “but you’re just a boy”…. I think we gotta do a little producer/writing credits on these songs. Gosh they sound WAY too similar.

So I did a little reading up on the song credits, and here’s what I found:

If I Were A Boy - writer: Britney Jean Carlson, producers: Toby Gad, Beyoncé Knowles

Taken - writers: Toby Gad, Lindy Robbins, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, producer: Toby Gad

So Toby Gad was working on both songs as a producer, meaning that maybe there is some link to both of these works.

In any case, I’m happy to know about this, because this goes to show that with the right team of talents and people working behind the music, one can churn good quality and popular songs. After all, If I Were A Boy was previously written and performed by another artist before it was made popular by Beyoncé.
